Manchester United have dropped Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind ahead of tonight’s game against Leicester City.

The two defenders were the subject of much criticism after United’s shock 2-1 defeat to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, and Manchester Evening News are now reporting that they haven’t travelled to the King Power Stadium with the Manchester United squad, as was apparent from the photos taken at Manchester Airport on Friday afternoon.

Blind has made only one Premier League appearance all season, while Darmian hasn’t been able to nail down a spot either, making just three league starts, giving way to quite a bit of speculation about his future. The Italian right-back now out, it remains to be seen as to who gets the nod for the position, with Antonio Valencia (hamstring) out injured too.

Eric Bailly (ankle injury) and Marouane Fellaini (knee injury), who also scored against Leicester City in the reverse fixture, are among the others to not be in the squad for Saturday.

However, a majority of Jose Mourinho’s first-choice players are available, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic (who is expected to lead the line against Leicester), David de Gea, Phil Jones, Nemanja Matic and Ashley Young almost certain to start against the Foxes.
