Five goals, a penalty save and a Philippe Coutinho wonder strike featured when these two met in the 3-2 Liverpool win in September.

Mohamed Salah and Coutinho opened the scoring for the Reds but only to be pegged back by finishes from Leicester’s Shinji Okazaki and Jamie Vardy.

Vardy’s goal was his sixth in his last four Premier League games against Liverpool – the most he has scored against any top-flight side.

However, Liverpool clinched the victory moments later thanks to Jordan Henderson despite riding their luck.  Vardy could have salvaged a point for the Foxes had Simon Mignolet not saved his 73rd minute penalty.

The stop meant Mignolet had now saved seven of the 15 Premier League penalties he had faced, more than any other goalkeeper.

The result left Leicester 16th and extended their losing streak against last season’s Premier League top six to seven.

It also equalled their lowest points total after a six-game start to a Premier League season (also four points in 1994-95).

"Speaking after the game former Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare said: “There is no feeling sorry for ourselves. We have to get back to work and try to put more points on the table. It is mixed emotions.“You sit here and have no points and I have been told by a lot of people how we have contributed to a great game but as a manager it doesn’t mean anything to you because the players will be in there now feeling very disappointed not to come away with something.”"

For the Reds it was their  first win in their last five games in all competitions however they had only lost one of their last eight games in the Premier League.

How times have changed, manager Claude Puel has revitalised this Leicester team and they now find themselves eighth eleven points off Saturday’s hosts while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is hoping he can consolidate their place for a Champions League spot.

Overall the Foxes trail with 39 wins to Liverpool’s 46 and the duo have failed to take home all three points on 24 occasions.
