Leicester City are all but set to let Kelechi Iheanacho leave irrespective of the loss that they might have to take on his sale, reports The Sun.

Bought from Manchester City for £25 million, Iheanacho has been a mere bench warmer at the King Power Stadium, making just two Premier League starts over the course of the season.

Initially dubbed as the coup of the summer, Kelechi Iheanacho arrived at Leicester City with hype and expectations aplenty; however, it was always a doubt as to how did the Foxes plan to fit him into a side that was overly used to playing in a 4-4-2 system with Jamie Vardy as the main man.

Having recovered from an injury suffered early on after his arrival, Kelechi Iheanacho then struggled to make any impact whatsoever, soon making it clear that it was either him or Jamie Vardy. You know who the winner was.

As manager Claude Puel asked Kelechi Iheanacho to improve certain aspects of his game before he can be considered for a starting role, it is now beyond doubt that the Nigerian’s stay in the East Midlands won’t last long. A source said:

"“The problem is Kelechi is earning around £115,000-a-week on a five-year deal and no club will currently want to take him on those wages.“So Leicester might have to let him go for a lot cheaper than they paid for him if they decide to sell now.”"

As suggested by the reports, there’s no definite interest by any of the clubs as of yet. West Ham United, Newcastle United, Stoke City and Swansea City had all been linked to the young forward back in the summer, but they are yet to make any contact in January.
