Everton have emerged as the shock favourites to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City – that’s according to Oddschecker.

The Toffees currently are 10/1 to sign the 31-year old with Manchester United and Arsenal being the closest to them at 16/1 and 20/1 respectively. Everton’s link with Jamie Vardy is all down to their recent transfer activity, having signed Cenk Tosun for £27 million from Besiktas before sealing a £20 million deal for Theo Walcott from Arsenal.

Sam Allarydyce’s side had earlier been as far as 25/1 for the Leicester City striker, but Walcott’s transfer has brought about a welcome change to those numbers. George Elek, the Oddschecker spokesperson said:

"“Big Sam didn’t last long as England manager, but maybe we are getting a taste of what his Three Lions team would have looked like.“Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott and Jamie Vardy could well have been an England front-line in recent years but, if Allardyce gets his way, they could be lining up together at Goodison Park soon.”"

Going by the trends of the January transfer window so far, one can’t really rule out the possibility of any deal, barring Alexis Sanchez to Oldham Athletic AFC, who the club confirmed that they weren’t interested in. Manchester United were the first to be linked with Jamie Vardy just a week back – which was unbelievable too – but the speculation has since disappeared after they went all in for Sanchez in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Now with Everton’s emergence as the potential destination for Jamie Vardy, we have another transfer rumour that poor Claude Puel may have to address – and hopefully dismiss as the subject of imagination.
