Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has urged Riyad Mahrez to leave Leicester City for a bigger club – possibly Arsenal or Chelsea.

The Algerian has been linked to both the London clubs for about a year now, though either of the two are yet to formally appproach Leicester City for the player.

The speculation surrounding Mahrez, however, continues to dominate the footballing world, and former Arsenal player Ray Parlour has simply followed the trend by coming out and advising the Foxes’ starman to come to London.

Speaking on The Debate, the Sky Sports Pundit said:

"“I am surprised [he’s still there]. Because he’s been superb, he really has.“He had that run where he didn’t play well and now he’s got back to his best. This is the Mahrez that won them the league, him and [Jamie] Vardy.“Mahrez would fit into a lot of sides. I know my old club was mentioned, Arsenal, but that’s the sort of side he’s got to look at now, he’s got to look at the top six.“I’m sure he’d improve quite a few, someone like Chelsea, who knows”."

The reason why more and more former footballers  are suggesting Riyad Mahrez to go for a big fish is because he has been simply outstanding for the East Midlands outfit, particularly since Claude Puel has taken charge.

In 15 Premier League appearances under the Frenchman, Mahrez has scored seven goals and assisted seven (eight goals and eight assists overall), leading Leicester’s march towards achieving a European spot.

Despite the Algeria international outshining some of the other more hyped and apparently better players this season, not a single club in Europe has even tried to go for him – and no, it’s not the price that’s stopping them; after all, what’s £50 million in today’s market?

Five days still remain for the transfer window to be shut down, but there’s no development on Riyad Mahrez. Will there be any? Who knows? We have seen some strange things happen on the Deadline Day – like Danny Drinkwater’s move to Chelsea – and the King Power Stadium may see some late action, too. You never know.
