Ahmed Musa’s proposed loan move to CSKA Moscow has been blocked by Leicester City, according to Nigerian outlet Vanguard.

Leicester are eyeing a permanent deal for the 25-year old and will only let him leave shall that condition be fulfilled. It had initially been reported that Ahmed Musa was all but set to be loaned out to his former side; however, the latest twist in his saga could have more repercussions for the Nigeria international.

It’s no secret that Claude Puel has grown tired of the numerous strikers that the club currently has, and the Frenchman has been quite honest about his intentions to offload a few players this January transfer window.

It looks like Puel is having the final say in this case as well, as is evident by what a certain source has to say about Musa’s current situation. Speaking to SCORENigeria, he told:

"“A decision will have to be taken by this weekend on Ahmed‘s future.“The player and his representatives will want him to stay put in England even though there have been some serious offers from outside England.“What has really delayed his return to CSKA is the fact that Leicester City wish he moves back on a permanent basis rather than on a loan.”"

Brought in the summer of 2016 by Claudio Ranieri after a prolific campaign with CSKA Moscow, Ahmed Musa soon disappeared into the mist in the East Midlands, something that we had all seen coming with both him and Islam Slimani, the record signing from Sporting CP.

The Leicester flop has, till date, made just 33 appearances for the Foxes, starting just 14 of those and finding the back of the net just five times. Of course, it makes one ask as to why had he been bought for €18 million if all that Leicester City needed was a bench warmer.

A similar question has to be asked in Islam Slimani’s case.
