Ahmed Musa has left Leicester City on loan for his former side CSKA Moscow, joining the Russian outfit for the rest of the 2017/18 season.

The Nigerian is the second striker to leave Leicester in as many days, following Leonardo Ulloa’s loan move to former club Brighton and Hove Albion.

It had been earlier reported that the Foxes were on the look for a permanent transfer and had tried blocking his loan move; however, Musa has eventually broken what has been no less than a jail for him, as he targets a return to form to boost his FIFA World Cup hopes.

The Nigerian international made a solitary appearance this season, netting for the Foxes in a 4-1 win over Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup. Either side of that appearance, Musa didn’t even come close to playing for Leicester City, having to spend most of his time with the second team for a reason that few of us know.

Signed from CSKA Moscow for €19.6 million by Claudio Ranieri, Musa has never quite been able to nail down a spot at Leicester, making just 14 starts in nearly two seasons, which just about serves as a damning indictment of what his time at the King Power Stadium has been like.

Once the season ends, it would be quite interesting to see if City keep him or sell him, something that might depend on how productive his time in Russia proves to be. You never know if he might return a much improved player.
