Riyad Mahrez hasn’t returned to training with Leicester City after a failed transfer to Manchester City, Sky Sports have confirmed.

The 26-year old was the subject of as many as four bids from Manchester City; however, Leicester City rejected all of those, therefore blocking Mahrez’s move for the second time in as many transfer windows.

Leicester City are understood to have demanded a whooping £95 million for their star player as opposed to the £65 million plus an unnamed player that the Citizens were willing to offer to get the deal done.

Having seen his dream being ripped to smidgens yet again, Riyad Mahrez is notably depressed at the moment, as told by one of his friends. He said:

"“This is the fourth transfer window in which Leicester have said they will allow him to leave. He feels very strongly that he has done everything in his powers for the club.“Joining Manchester City would have been a dream for him. Playing for Pep Guardiola is something he is still desperate to do. That seems a long way off right now. He’s very down about how he’s been treated by a club he has served so well.”"

Claude Puel, though, is still sanguine about Riyad Mahrez returning to training. Speaking after his side’s 2-1 defeat to Everton the other night, he said:

"“We will see, but the most important thing is to keep my focus with the others and we will see with Riyad.“It’s of course always a difficult situation and we will have to manage this situation with Riyad and I hope he can come back quickly with us and with a smile and happy to play with us.”"

It goes without saying that Puel is being a bit too optimistic in hoping that Riyad Mahrez will turn up with a smile at the King Power Stadium anymore. Although the Algerian’s behaviour wasn’t very professional either, you have to agree that Leicester City haven’t been too kind to a player who has given the club his all.

City did it back in the summer after after rejecting multiple bids from AS Roma, and they’ve done it here again, thereby failing to keep their promise. Regardless, Leicester have got to find a solution – and quickly too – as they can’t afford to let the situation stay as it is for too long.
