Liverpool are readying a summer move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, as per reports from multiple sources.

The Reds are resigned to lose Emre Can to Juventus in the summer and will be on the look for a solid defensive midfielder to take care of their highly fragile defence and the middle of the park.

Liverpool will already be bolstered the impending arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig in the summer, and of a number of options they’d be looking at to partner him, Wilfred Ndidi is the one that tops the list.

The Reds, however, won’t surely be the only top team looking to sign the Nigerian from Leicester City. Ndidi has been phenomenal this season, and especially since the arrival of Claude Puel.

Currently the leading tackler in the Premier League with 109 successful tackles (32 more than N’Golo Kante), he also has the most passes of any Leicester City player (1,312 passes), averaging just over 90 passes a game. What’s more? He leads the Foxes’ chart in aerial battles, too.

Those numbers serve a lot of reasons as to why would Leicester not want to sell Wilfred Ndidi at any price as and when the clubs knock on their door. It might not be very obvious, but the 21-year old is City’s most important player, as was N’Golo Kante, who they struggled to cope without.

Given that the player doesn’t wish to leave the King Power Stadium come the next season, Leicester City must maintain as strong a stance as they have in Riyad Mahrez’s case.
