OFFICIAL: Riyad Mahrez returns to training with Leicester City

Riyad Mahrez has today returned to training with Leicester City and is available to play against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Algerian was expected to miss a third consecutive Premier League for the Foxes; however, much to the delight of the Foxes faithful, he is now ready to feature against the Citizens in a mouth-watering fixture at the Etihad Stadium.

It has not been revealed yet if Riyad Mahrez has reached any agreement of some kind with Leicester City, with the club statement only informing as much as was necessary for the fans to know.

In fact, the statement was a bit optimistic to say the least. It read:

"“Riyad remains a greatly valued member of Claude Puel’s squad and is focused, together with his teammates, on achieving further success with Leicester City”."

No one can tell if Riyad Mahrez is focused on achieving further success with Leicester City, but for now, he is the Foxes’ possession, and they should now look to get him to fire on field again.

The 26-year old is returning after a long spell of inactivity and disappointment, so he may not pick up where he left off unless and until he gains his confidence as well as the desire back.

One way is to throw him onto the field against the league leaders and let him prove a point against the team that could have represented on Saturday. If he still wishes for Manchester City to come back for him with a record offer, he must convince them with a world-class performance.

Remember, it’s not Pep Guardiola who needs Mahrez as much as the player needs the former.
