Claude Puel wants record-breaking Jamie Vardy to continue his fantastic work
Claude Puel is hoping that record-breaker Jamie Vardy can continue his fantastic work as Leicester City aim for one final push to make a Europa League spot their own.
Vardy has been monumental as always in Leicester’s 2017/18 campaign so far, netting 14 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions. However, it’s not the goal tally that most of us are as impressed by (which is saying something) as we are with the fact that half of those goals have come against the top six Premier League sides.
As the Englishman brought Leicester City on level terms at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, he became the first player in the Premier League era to score against Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in one season.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that Claude Puel is in awe of the 32-year old striker. Speaking of the England international, he said:
"“I hope he will continue until the end of the season because we still need to play some great teams, like Tottenham for example near the last game of the season,” Puel was quoted as saying by Leicester Mercury.“It is important he continues his fantastic work. He shows his quality and he is a fantastic player and we love to have him in the team, like Riyad Mahrez.“He is an important player. We give him all our support to continue his fantastic work.”"
Harry Maguire doesn’t differ much from Puel in his opinion of Jamie Vardy. The former Hull City defender, while revealing the banter between him and his Sheffield mate, spoke highly of the Leicester front man. He told:
"“The thing with Vards is you know whatever team he plays in he will be a threat.“You have seen late on he had another header when it was 4-1 that maybe on another day he should score it but we know with Vards against top six teams we know he will always score goals.“His record and his pace causes defenders problems.“We always have a bit of banter. It is all friendly and we are good mates. We are both from Sheffield, so we are good friends.”"
With 23 goals in 43 appearances against the Premier League’s top six (the most by any player in the past four seasons), Jamie Vardy’s outrageous record speaks for itself. Doubted and questioned on numerous occasions, he has always proved his worth against the very best, not just with pace but intelligence, too.

Indeed, if Leicester City are to achieve what they want to this season, then Jamie Vardy will have to keep going the way he is, because if he does, the Foxes will end on a real high.
