Leicester City favourites to sign Thorgan Hazard next summer
Leicester City are the favourites to sign Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Monchengladbach next summer, as per the latest odds from BetStars.
The Foxes are 2/1 to sign the Belgian – well ahead of the other clubs that are chasing him, namely Borussia Dortmund (5/1), Bayern Munich (20/1) and RB Leipzig (7/1).
Everton and Arsenal are also in the reckoning, but are well off Leicester City at 12/1 and 20/1 respectively.
Speaking of Leicester’s chase of Thorgan Hazard, BetStars’ Director of Trading, Ian Marmion, said:
"“City have emerged as the 2/1 favourites to add Borussia Monchenglabach’s Hazard to their ranks this summer.“The Foxes have set their sights on Eden’s younger brother as the man to fill the boots of wantaway Riyad Mahrez.“Borussia Dortmund are also in the running and can be backed at 5/1, while RB Leipzig follow closely behind at 7/1 to become the Belgian playmaker’s next club.”"
Shall Leicester City manage to get this deal over the line – a prospect that’s mouthwatering to say the least – then Riyad Mahrez’s departure would be easily forgotten, barely leaving any wounds behind.
The two players have identical statistics from the current season, further showing that Hazard is just about the perfect replacement for the Algerian. Here’s how the two have fared this season:
Riyad Mahrez
Appearances: 28
Goals: 9
Assists: 9

Thorgan Hazard
Appearances: 25
Goals: 8
Assists: 8
The numbers apart, the versatility offered by the 24-year old is another factor that would tempt Claude Puel to go all in for him. This season alone, he has made 12 appearances on the left wing, eight on the right wing, five as a secondary striker and a couple as a centre-forward, doing considerably well in each of those roles.
This is something that we don’t expect too often from Mahrez, who can either be deployed as a no.10 or on the right wing. Of his 28 appearances this season, only two have been in the attacking midfield, while 26 have been on the right wing.

At the moment, though, Leicester City are far away from making Thorgan Hazard their own because firstly, Riyad Mahrez hasn’t been sold as yet, and secondly, Hazard won’t cost anything less than £40 million.
