Harry Maguire has stated his desire to be a part of Leicester City for a long time despite reports suggesting that both Manchester City and Manchester United want him in the summer.

The Englishman’s words are music to the ears of the Leicester fans, who are dreading yet more major departures in the summer alongside Riyad Mahrez’s, who’ll almost inevitably leave.

Signed for just £17 million in the summer from Hull City, Harry Maguire’s rise since his arrival at the King Power Stadium has been one worth of interest to many. As well as establishing himself as one of the best centre-backs in England, he has also earned an England call-up and should ideally be on the plane to Russia for the FIFA World Cup later this year.

But could he be on the private jet to the Etihad Stadium or Old Trafford? Not if you ask the man himself, as the 24-year old wants to stay at Leicester City.

"“I knew when I joined Leicester it was a big team, a big club in the Premier League,” he said.“We have got a good owner who wants the club to move forward and upwards, instead of looking below us.“I know the club is on an upward curve and, hopefully, I will be a part of that for the future.”"

Maguire has often been criticised for ignoring the defensive side of his game in favour of the offensive when he drives the ball forward all by himself, and at times, with a bit of recklessness to it. The England international, however, stressed upon the fact that his priority is to defend.

"“I want to keep clean sheets.“I do like to play out from the back but, first and foremost, my job is to defend.“I don’t take my eyes off that. I always get my game around defensively rather than on the ball.“I have played three years in League One, so if you can’t head, kick, block then I don’t think I would be where I am now.“I have played every Premier League game this season and near enough every one in the Cup. I want to play every game. Sometimes when the manager says you are being rested, you are disappointed. I want to keep playing every game.”"

Harry Maguire will be expected to play a big part again as his side host Stoke City on Saturday. A win for the Foxes would mean that they are able to maintain the pressure on Burnley, who may be two points behind by the time they kick off against Southampton.
