The rarest of rare howlers from Jack Butland helped Leicester City earn a lucky point against Stoke City as the Foxes failed to win for a fourth successive league game.

Leicester began in style as they have in most of their games under Claude Puel; however, much to the Frenchman’s disappointment, the Foxes soon faded away and settled into a unusual practice of throwing more and more crosses in, something that Stoke City found easy to cope with.

Although Riyad Mahrez, Marc Albrighton and Matty James were all good as usual, each one of them was guilty of not having enough moments of intelligence and composure whenever there was a chance to open the Potters’ defence up.

Stoke City made Leicester pay the price at last through Xherdan Shaqiri, who made the most of the hosts’ defensive error to hand his side the lead at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester did much-much better in the second-half, starting as they would have wanted to, but the wait for a goal went on till the 70th minute, as Jack Butland put the ball into his own net to give the home side the hope of an unlikely win.

Claude Puel’s side threw everything at the game thereafter, utterly dominating the opponents for the remaining minutes, but a number of missed chances meant that they had to settle for a draw.
