Leicester City have set their sights on Ostersunds FK’s Saman Ghoddos, according to Swedish outlet Fotboll Dirket.

The Iranian striker starred in his side’s 2-1 win over Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League, as the Allsvenskan outfit exited the competition in style after a 3-0 defeat at home to the Gunners in the first leg.

The 24-year old was the standout performer in Ostersunds’ dream run in Europe, netting four goals and assisting five in 13 appearances, and he made sure that The Emirates Stadium remembered his name, too.

Saman Ghoddos’ display didn’t just catch the attention of a number of a clubs but also earned him praise from Arsene Wenger. Speaking after his side’s defeat, the Arsenal boss said:

"“He was their best player. He is a wonderful player. Both technically and tactically, I was impressed by him.”"

It has been reported that Leicester City, West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton had all sent scouts to watch Saman Ghoddos in action against the North Londoners, and having seen his display, they’d almost certainly be interested in signing him this summer.

However, they won’t be the only ones, with La Liga’s Celta Vigo also expected to come back for the Iran international after they had a bid rejected earlier by the Ostersunds.

Leicester City would like to be careful before buying a striker again, especially someone who they haven’t seen a lot of. Their recent record with buying forwards has been appaling to say the least, as Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa both prove.

The two forwards are currently away on loan to Newcastle United and CSKA Moscow respectively.
