Leicester City face a must-win game, admits Marc Albrighton
Marc Albrighton has admitted that Leicester City face a must-win game against AFC Bournemouth this Saturday.
The Foxes are in the middle of their worst run under Claude Puel, going winless in the Premier League for over a month. Their last four results in the league have been:
Everton 2-1 Leicester City
Leicester City 1-1 Swansea City
Manchester City 5-1 Leicester City
Leicester City 1-1 Stoke City
With the East Midlanders now under immense pressure, Marc Albrighton has admitted that it’s a big game this weekend, and that they just have to play to win.
"“It is a big game and we need to win that one,” he told LCFC TV.“There’s no getting away with that fact. We should have beaten Swansea here and we should have beaten Stoke here. We have to beat Bournemouth.“We’ll prepare this week and hopefully we can get the result.”"
Albrighton also lamented a wasteful performance against Stoke, comparing it to the result against Swansea. He said:
"“We look for maximum points in these games.“It was the same as the Swansea game. We had all of the ball and created good chances but just couldn’t find that cutting edge we need to get the goals.“We had a bit of bad luck along the way as well. We hit the post a couple of times and the keeper made a couple of saves as well.“Ultimately, it is disappointing. We have to put our chances away and we didn’t do that.“We started the game well, which is what we said before the game, to start well. Then, after 15 or 20 minutes, we seemed to back off.“Even if we had gone in 0-0 at half-time I think the manager would still have said we needed to pick our game up.“We started well but we need to get back to that level. We knew going out for the second half that we needed to raise our game and we did that. We piled on the pressure and had chance after chance, but I don’t think luck was on our side either.“Their keeper pulled off a couple of saves and there was probably a 10-minute spell where we could have had a couple of goals if he hadn’t been in goal.“It wasn’t to be and we have to be positive that we haven’t lost the game and we have still come away with a point.”"
It is the first time that Claude Puel would be feeling some heat since taking over the reins at the King Power Stadium. It goes without saying that he has rescued what seemed like a sinking ship when Craig shakespeare was incharge, but after setting such high standards in terms of the results and the performance, the failure to consistently match them week in and week out will bring him under scrutiny.
Irrespective of how well Stoke City and Swansea City did against Leicester, these are definitely the kind of games that you turn on the style in and win.

While Puel’s side did turn on the style – or at least try to – they couldn’t quite produce a match-winning 90 minutes, thereby also denting their hopes of a a UEFA Europa League spot, which may possibly be over anyway if Arsenal mess up against AC Milan. The Gunners won’t throw away the sixth spot, would they?
