Leicester City: Would any Foxes make the Premier Leauge All Star Game?
Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku suggested the Premier League have a North-South All Star Game during a February break, would any Leicester City players make the North squad?
The proposed all star game could be similar to the NBA where the participants would be chosen on a combination of merit and fan votes. As a result of that, this would be a much simpler question if there was an all star game during Leicester City’s title-winning season as much of the North squad would be dominated by Foxes.
Jamie Vardy would be leading the line, Riyad Mahrez would be terrorizing the South on the wings, N’Golo Kante would run the midfield, and perhaps both of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth would man central defense.
There would probably be one more inclusion in Danny Drinkwater or Kasper Schmeichel but that would not be the case in 2017-18 unfortunately. Aside from a few of those stars leaving Leicester City, some of the others have been injured or underperformed. The Foxes are still comfortably above the relegation fray this season but have not been a top side despite the presence of several top players performing at their best.
Jamie Vardy has done his part this season with 13 goals and could find himself on the bench behind the likes of Sergio Aguero and Mohamed Salah who are also ahead of him in the goalscoring charts. Roberto Firmino could maybe squeeze ahead of Vardy based on his higher assist count but Salah could steal the fan/player votes from his teammate.
Riyad Mahrez would be a sensible addition to the bench or perhaps even ahead of the likes of Alexis Sanchez who has also been sulking for part of the season. Mahrez has scored the same number of goals as Sanchez (eight) but has assisted seven goals to the United man’s three.
Kevin De Bruyne and Sanchez would likely win the fan vote and would be the likely wingers on the North squad but Mahrez deserves a place based on his numbers and performances.

Finally, Harry Maguire deserves a place in the squad and could make a case to start as well. Many pundits have suggested that Virgil Van Dijk and Nicolas Otamendi would start but Maguire has the numbers that could push him in to the starting XI or at least the bench.
He has more clearances and tackles than either of those big name defenders and his rising profile as a potential starter for the England national team could propel Maguire in to the team.
While the idea of a Premier League All Star Game might seem silly, especially if the level of intensity matches a testimonial or one of those 20-goal charity games, it would be a fun way to honor players and get the fans involved.

The FA might not seriously look in to this any time soon but at least Leicester City fans could take heart in the fact that despite some of the club’s struggles this season they still have a few all stars in the squad.
