Everton are lining up a bid for Leicester City and England striker Jamie Vardy, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Toffees have struggled up front since Romelu Lukaku’s sale to Manchester United, and despite spending well over £250 million across two seasons under new owner Farhad Moshiri, they haven’t really grown as a club.

Having sacked Ronald Koeman earlier this season, they appointed Sam Allardyce on an 18-month contract, even making him one of the best paid managers in the world; however, while the Englishman has been able to pull them out of the relegation battle, he hasn’t matched Moshiri’s ambitions.

The Merseyside outfit currently sits 10th in the Premier League table, and in danger of falling further down. One of the reasons behind their downfall is the lack of goals. Allardyce did try to solve that with the £23 million arrival of Cenk Tosun from Besiktas, but his only goal so far came against Burnley the other day as the Clarets turned the game around to win 2-1.

The top officials now getting increasingly frustrated, they are eyeing changes already, and a part of that change could be the summer arrival of Jamie Vardy from Leicester City.

It is understood that Steve Walsh, Vardy’s former colleague at the club, could have a say in signing the England international again, having been responsible for his signing in 2012 while he was Leicester City.

Whether or not would the Foxes would want is a totally different question, though, and one that’ll only be answered if an approach is made in the summer. Judging by Jamie Vardy’s current goalscoring exploits, one would think that there’s no way Leicester are going to sell him – there’s no reason to do so.
