Opponent Watch: Antonio Conte reveals how he’ll stop Jamie Vardy
Antonio Conte has revealed how he plans to stop Leicester City’s main man, Jamie Vardy, in the FA Cup quarter-final this weekend.
Chelsea are due to visit the King Power Stadium on Sunday amid fears that the 3-0 defeat to FC Barcelona in the second leg at Camp Nou could leave a long lasting impact on the side.
But Conte has a trip to the Wembley in sight, and he wants to make sure that the Blues don’t exit another competition in the space of a few days, especially when the FA Cup is the only piece of silverware that is now realistically available to them.
To be able to do that, he must successfully stop the Foxes, who are fresh from a 4-1 win against West Bromwich Albion, with Jamie Vardy in particular setting the game alight with a stunning strike to take his league tally for the season to 14 goals. Conte knows that it is Vardy who must be neutralised first in order to go through, and he therefore has a plan.
"“The special plans is to try to defend well,” he told.“We know about Vardy and his characteristic, he is a clever player and is good to attack the space and find the right time to do this.”"
However, he is wary of the threat that Leicester City possess as a side, too, having seen enough of them over the course of two seasons.
"“I think that we are talking about a team that two years ago won the title,” he said.“In the squad there are many players with good qualities, talented players.“They want to fight a lot and in the game at home we suffered a lot, they run a lot and have dangerous players.“We must pay great attention.”"
Claude Puel’s side will look to repeat, and perhaps better their display in the 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in January.

They could have easily won that afternoon with the number of chances that they had; however, a red card for Ben Chilwell at the 67th minute meant that they had to switch to the defensive mode for the remaining part of the game, doing really well to keep a clean sheet and come home with a point.
Hopefully, Leicester can find the winning touch this time around.
