Leicester City target Bouna Sarr will stay at Olympique de Marseille next season, the right-back has told French radio station RTL.

The Foxes had already had two bids worth €3 million and €5 million rejected by the Ligue 1 club earlier this year, though they were understood to have retained their interest in him as a summer target.

At the time, the Les Olympiens’ manager, Rudi Garcia, dismissed any speculation surrounding the 26-year old, making it clear that the player isn’t for sale.

Now Bouna Sarr has himself spoken out, and if it goes his way, he’d stay where he currently is.

"“There is a very good chance that I will be at Marseille next season,” he told French radio station RTL.“It’s my wish that that’s the case.”"

Sarr’s words will come as a blow to Leicester City. The right-back had recently addressed the rumours linking him with a move to the King Power Stadium, sounding somewhat interested in a transfer.

"“(The interest of) Leicester is above all a reward,“ he was quoted as saying. It shows I’m working well at the position. It’s encouraging for the future.“If I can spark interest from this kind of club now, it’s an opening. All I can say is that I’m not indifferent to the Premier League.”"

The right-back position is a cause for real concern at the moment. Danny Simpson is good, but if Leicester City do want to challenge for a top-four spot, then an ageing full-back can’t continue to be their first choice.

Calum Chambers is one of the players they could look at. The Foxes had multiple bids rejected for the versatile Arsenal right-back last summer, and they can go in for him this summer, too, with the Gunners eyeing a squad overhaul.

The 23-year old has made just 15 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side this season. If Hector Bellerin chooses to stay at The Emirates Stadium, that could potentially open up possibilities for Leicester City to go and make him their own.
