Leicester City’s young contingent excites Ben Chilwell
Leicester City’s emerging young generation is exciting Ben Chilwell already, who can foresee a brighter future for the club.
A lot of young players have taken giant steps forward at Leicester, particularly since Claude Puel’s arrival, and their maturity on all fronts has been visible in their displays every single time they are on the pitch.
As the young talents are now starting to form the core of the team, Ben Chilwell is getting really excited about the future and can see the hunger to win trophies.
While players like Chilwell, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Demarai Gray and Harry Maguire are already a part of the first team, Harvey Barnes (U-20s), Darnell Johnson (U-20s) George Thomas (U-21s) and Alex Pascanu (U-21s) will all soon be knocking on the door, too, meaning that Claude Puel could have a complete squad of young guns, who are hungry to prove a point.
Speaking exclusively to Leicester Mercury about the development of young players, the 20-year old said:
"“You can add Fousseni Diabate to that list now as well.“We have thought about it and spoken about it that as a young group it is an exciting time for Leicester.“There are a lot of young players coming through now, like Harvey Barnes, who trains with us every day now and plays in the cup games.“We would like to think we are all good players who would like to do well for the club over the next few years.“We are all hungry to win things and this is a great opportunity for us to do that now for the club and the fans.“It is a definitely a very hungry, young changing room, which is happening at Leicester.”"
The Leicester City U-23s are currently sitting at the top of the table in Premier League 2 and are in with a decent chance of winning the trophy despite Arsenal being just a point behind them with a game in hand.
Chilwell has played with a lot of the players who are currently a part of the U-23 squad, and he is happy that things are finally going their way.
"“I have played with a lot of those players when I was in the youth team,” he said.“The FA youth cup, when we reached the semi-finals, I played with a lot of those players then.“Then the under-23s I played with them for two seasons and a lot of the boys playing now were in the side then.“I am happy for them and they are great players. It didn’t quite click for them over recent years but now it has and they are now at the top of the league and having beaten Liverpool 4-0, I am delighted for them.“They could be knocking on the first team door soon and the more competitions healthy.“They are doing well and when the younger boys train with us they always seem to do well so long may that continue.”"

Leicester City’s U-23s next play Sunderland before their final fixture with Derby County in what seems like an easy set of games to win. Arsenal, on the other hand, play Liverpool (placed fourth), Swansea City (placed third) and West Ham United (placed seventh) in their final three matches.
