Leicester City hitman Jamie Vardy had to buy a new pair of football boots ahead of England’s friendly against Italy on Tuesday.

The 31-year old had to rush to the nearest sports outlet to grab himself some boots to play, as the ones he had were no longer good enough to find a way past the legendary Gianluigi Buffon after splitting them in training.

Jamie Vardy then wore the standard pair of CR7s (he normally wears Nike Mercurial Superfly V CR7 boots as part of his deal with Nike) – which generally cost up to £250 – and as it turns out, they proved quite lucky for him.

The Foxes’ star man scored his seventh goal in 21 appearances for the Three Lions; however, his effort was cancelled out by a late Lorenzo Insigne penalty for the game to end 1-1 at the Wembley Stadium.

Jamie Vardy will nonetheless return to Leicester City in good spirits, with his side now wanting him to not lose that goalscoring touch in the closing stages of the season.

The former Fleetwood Town striker has netted 14 times in 29 appearances in the Premier League this season, managing to score against each of the current top six on his way to breaking yet another record (only player to find the net against each of the top six in one Premier League season).

Claude Puel’s side now eyeing one final push for the seventh spot, and hopefully the UEFA Europa League, Jamie Vardy will no doubt have to lead with example and goals.
