Leicester City interested in Bologna winger Simone Verdi
Leicester City are interested in Italy and Bologna winger Simone Verdi, according to Corriere Di Bologna.
City are reported to have enquired about the availability of the 25-year old and would be willing to move for him in the summer if Riyad Mahrez chooses to leave.
Verdi has previously been the subject of interest from other Italian clubs, namely Inter Milan, AS Roma and Napoli, who did have an agreement to sign the Italy international in January, but the player decided against it. It is understood that Watford would also be targeting the former FC Empoli player.
A product of AC Milan’s esteemed academy, Simone Verdi has played for a number of clubs in a career that is yet to fully take off, including Carpi FC, SD Eibar, Turin and Empoli before finally joining Bologna.
Primarily a right winger, he can also play as a centre-forward, a second striker, an attacking midfielder, or at the left wing as well. However, it’s the right side of the pitch where has scored six of his seven goals from in addition to seven assists this season in 26 appearances across all competitions.
There are a lot of other players that Leicester City fans would rather have as replacement for Riyad Mahrez, mainly because we haven’t seen too many Italians succeed in the Premier League in recent times.
