Claude Puel happy with Fousseni Diabate’s start at Leicester City
Leicester City gaffer Claude Puel is happy with Fousseni Diabate, as “he always gives his best”.
Signed in January from Gazelec Ajaccio for about £2 million, the Mali U-23s international has impressed in every single he has played in Leicester colours.
Diabate has scored two goals in ten appearances for the Foxes, bagging both the goals in a dream debut against Peterborough United (FA Cup).
He may have failed to have any noteworthy contribution since, but Claude Puel is happy anyway because of how the 22-year old has progressed at Leicester City. Discussing his qualities, the Frenchman said:
"“I am happy with Diabate because he always gives his best.“He comes into the game quality and good intensity.“Always he gives something with his quickness, quality and technical moves. It is interesting and promising.“We will see if he has more game time. I am happy with the job he is doing in training and in the game.“Like Demarai, Marc Albrighton, Riyad Mahrez and Iheanacho, he gives us a different option.“He is a young player and inexperienced player. He is promising for the future and we have to develop this player.“He gives us good strengths for the team until the end of the season, also to prepare for next season.”"
Fousseni Diabate’s early success represents some sort of a change of a trend at Leicester City, at least as far as the forwards are concerned.
From Ahmed Musa to Islam Slimani (remember them?) and Kelechi Iheanacho, the East Midlands outfit has hardly had any luck with their attacking signings.

Diabate, though, has been able to win over the faith of the manager and the fans, and he has been rightly rewarded with regular first-team appearances.
With Riyad Mahrez very likely to leave Leicester City this summer, many are already expecting big things from the January recruit, or put simply, expecting him to fill the huge gap that Mahrez will leave behind.

It may a step too far in his first full season at the club, but there’s no denying that he does have the talent to be able to make a name for himself at the King Power Stadium. One to watch out for.
