Manchester United are all set to make a £35 million move for Leicester City and England centre-back Harry Maguire this summer, according to The Mirror.

Although placed second in the Premier League table at the moment, the Reds have fallen well short of leaders Manchester City in the race for the title.

Jose Mourinho has come under a lot of pressure as a result, and he is now eyeing more world-class talent to try and get his team to put up a proper challenge for the Premier League title in what would be his third season at the Old Trafford.

Strengthening the defence is one of his priorities at the moment, with Chris Smalling clearly not the man to be at the heart of a title contender’s defence.

The former Chelsea manager is therefore eyeing Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire, who has been one the best defenders in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United would be willing to pay £35 million for the 25-year old, which is more than double of the £17 million that the Foxes paid for him to Hull City last summer.

While it’ll undoubtedly be a deal that the club would financially profit from, the extent of the damage that Harry Maguire’s transfer would do to the team is beyond repair.

The England international is Leicester City’s best defender by a country mile, and his move to Manchester would add to the woes of a team that’s already horrendous at defending, as was evident from the 2-1 defeat to Burnley the other day.
