Leicester City defender Harry Maguire is not for sale, insists Claude Puel
“Valuable” Harry Maguire is not for sale and will stay at Leicester City, says manager Claude Puel.
The 25-year old has been the subject of a lot of speculation, with a number of reports confirming Manchester United and Manchester City’s interest in his services.
Claude Puel, however, has ruled out the possibility of Harry Maguire leaving the East Midlands – or so it seems – saying that the England international is someone who he plans to build the team around.
Addressing the rumours linking Maguire with a move away, the Leicester City boss said:
"“Harry is a valuable player for us and I want to build my team around him. It’s just speculation.“He came into Leicester, played, developed and he needs to continue to improve. He’s a young player with fantastic attributes, an international player, it’s a good thing to have this player at Leicester.“It’s important to give him a good feeling for the future, to build a good team around him, to keep a good ambition for the future.”"
Leicester City are going to have a really hard time in trying to keep Harry Maguire’s admirers away. Since his £17 million transfer from Hull City, he has been right among the best centre-backs in the Premier League, performing with great maturity and consistency even against the best.
The Manchester clubs are already after him, and they could be joined by London duo Arsenal and Chelsea, too, who are now looking for defensive additions themselves to catch up with Pep Guardiola’s side.
Maguire may have stated his desire to stay, but as was the case with Riyad Mahrez, one bid from either of the top six could very quickly change his stance.
