Leicester City boss Claude Puel is already planning for the next season in an attempt to prepare the club for a better future.

The Frenchman has been heavily criticised for stagnating the team during his tenure so far, but  a closer look at his time in the East Midlands will suggest otherwise.

Claude Puel has brought something that Claudio Ranieri and Craig Shakespeare, despite their success over a period, failed to bring to Leicester City. The former Southampton boss hasn’t just changed the way that the Foxes play but also done so with the young players at the club.

Unlike the managers of the past, he hasn’t been afraid of ringing the changes, even if it’s the title-winners that are concerned. By doing so, he has developed the previously regressing yet supremely talented players at the club, and all of that has contributed to starting a long process that’ll forever change the way the club is seen. Leicester City will finally have an identity of their own.

However, there’s still time to go for that, and the process is indeed a long one. With the current season coming to a close and the next approaching as well, this long-term plan starts now with recruitment and a squad shake up that has for long been overdue.

As well as sorting out the futures of players like Robert Huth, Ben Hamer, Ahmed Musa, Leonaro Ulloa and Islam Slimani-like players, Puel has also got to bring in replacements for the old guards from the 2015/16 campaign to completely have his stamp on the team.

The Leicester City faithful will be happy to know that the former OGC Nice man is already working on that, obviously assuming that he’d stay on for another season – as he should. Here’s what he had to say about “Project Leicester City”:

"“We work not just in the transfer window period but all the season together with the directors and the recruiters and the owners to prepare for next season, and to have all the response to replace some players, to bring good options and good additions in the squad.“It is important not just to work in the summer, it is work since October (when Puel arrived) for me and it is important to try to develop the squad and to try to develop the project with the training ground and stadium.“I like this feeling. I like to build and we have all the possibility here to build with calm and consistency to give Leicester stability in results."

"“But to have good stability in results we need to work together with the academy for example.“Now we have a good relationship and a good understanding with the trainer of the academy and all this is important to give a good project for the club.”"
