Rafael Benitez is reportedly being considered as a potential candidate to replace Claude Puel at Leicester City, according to the Daily Star.

The Frenchman seems set to be sacked for a second successive season after winning just four of his last 18 Premier League games.

More defeats against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur looking increasingly likely based on recent evidence, the board is almost certain to run out of patience with the former Southampton boss.

Of a number of possible names, Rafael Benitez has emerged as the top candidate in the nascent stages of Leicester City’s soon-to-begin managerial search.

The Spaniard has done a top job with Newcastle United, steering them to 10th place in the Premier League with a chance of finishing even higher, shall Puel’s side continue to slip up.

It is no secret that Leicester City would now be on the look for a manager with a proven track record, and Benitez perfectly fits the bill.

The 58-year old remains the only manager in history to have won the UEFA Champions League (Liverpool), the UEFA Europa League (Valencia and Chelsea), the UEFA Super Cup (Liverpool) and the FIFA Club World Cup (Inter Milan), so it’s pretty clear that he wins trophies wherever he goes.

While winning trophies may be a step too far for Leicester City, they’d certainly be guaranteed the desired results under Rafael Benitez, seeing as the former Real Madrid manager approaches games with a view to not lose. It’s down to the fans to choose: Beauty or the beast.
