Real Madrid want to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez this summer, according to Spanish magazine Don Balon.

The Los Blancos are eyeing a major summer overhaul which might see them make a number of marquee signings, and Mahrez could reportedly be one of them.

Rumoured to still be one of Manchester City’s targets for the upcoming summer, the 27-year old might well be spoilt for choice when it’ll come down to him to decide the team he wants to play for.

Since last summer, when AS Roma made four bids for him (the highest of them understood to be around £40 million), Riyad Mahrez has seen himself linked with more clubs than Nicolas Anelka played for in his career.

However, Manchester City are the only ones (after Roma) to have approached Leicester City with a formal bid – and it was quite an offer. The Citizens offered £60 million and a player for the 2015/16 player of the year, but even that proved to be short of what the Foxes wanted for him.

If Leicester continue to be as stubborn as they have been, then Real Madrid may find their reported £50 million bid rejected within a matter of seconds, too.

In all likeliness, though, the East Midlanders will get rid of Riyad Mahrez this summer, as there is absolutely no chance that he’d stay on for a week more next season after all of his frustrations this campaign.

The Algeria international has scored 11 goals and assisted equally as many for Leicester City this season.
