With all the odds stacked against them and Claude Puel’s fate already looking it’s sealed, Leicester City take on Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, who they haven’t beaten in 20 attempts.

It’s a game that’s a dead rubber in more ways than one. It’ll have little or no bearing on either of the two managers’ future, a win for either side won’t probably impact the league position, and a defeat won’t be much of a deviation from what has become a routine for both Arsenal and Leicester City.

While the Gunners are winless in six away games in the league, the Foxes are winless at home in as many games, and that’s exactly where their seasons – and ambitions – have fallen part; however, when there’s no purpose, there’s pride to play for, and that’s what Leicester would look to salvage tonight.

It’s not going to be easy at all, as has been the case for about a couple of decades against Arsene Wenger, but the hosts are up against a team with the worst away record in English League football since the turn of the year, which should inspire them to some extent.

Riyad Mahrez has had a memorable time at Leicester City, and he’ll undoubtedly go down as one of the best players to have ever represented the club.

It’s a shame that his time in the East Midlands is now nearing its end, but that’s what football is all about. This is going to be his last appearance at the King Power Stadium, though it may not be the last time he plays here.

Against a team that he could be a part of next season, it’d be a fitting end to his tale to bid farewell with something special.

Quotes

"“We need perspective because we will finish in the middle of the table. A lot of teams would like to finish in our position,” said Claude Puel.“We need stability for the future for next season and the seasons beyond. If we finish mid-table it is not bad because it has been a tough season.“We had difficulties in the beginning and now at the end we have difficulties to manage.”"
