Leicester City line up £15 million move for Manchester City’s Patrick Roberts
Leicester City are lining up a £15 million move for Manchester City’s highly-rated Patrick Roberts this summer, according to multiple reports.
The 21-year old has spent his last two seasons on loan at Celtic, and has impressed the Scottish champions as well as catching the eye of West Ham United and Leicester City.
In his 65 appearances over the course of the two seasons, he has scored 12 goals and assisted 25, which are really good numbers for someone of his age.
His contributions have meant that boss Brendan Rodgers is fully willing to sign him on a permanent basis, but as the Englishman returns to Manchester City, the Hoops’ boss is aware that the ball is in the Citizens’ court.
"“Pat will go back to Manchester City; he’s had a fantastic two-and-a-half years here,” said Rodgers.“He’s a player we’d love to keep, he’s a fantastic young player.“But the understanding has always been pretty clear that at the end of the season he’d go back to Manchester City and take it from there.”"
It is understood that Patrick Roberts was offered to Leicester City as part of a £50 million deal for Riyad Mahrez in January; however, the East Midlands outfit demanded more cash for their Algerian winger, and the deal failed to go through.
The English champions are still rumoured to be eyeing Mahrez in the summer, and with City hardly having an option than to sell the 26-year old, they may consider themselves the favourites to sign the former Fulham winger.
But before everything else, they first have Claude Puel’s future to sort out. There’s huge doubt over whether the Frenchman will continue or not after a poor end to the season, and while the uncertainty continues to grow, Leicester City can’t sign anyone.

If they do sack Puel, it’d be interesting to see who do they go with this time around. The last three appointments have all had the element of surprise, so this one – shall it come – could be of similar nature.
