Leicester City interested in West Bromwich Albion centre-back Ahmed Hegazi
Leicester City are interested in West Bromwich Albion centre-back Ahmed Hegazi – but they’ll face competition from West Ham United, according to The Sun.
Following the Baggies’ relegation from the Premier League, Hegazi would be available for just £2.5 million because of his release clause, and Leicester are ready to take full advantage.
However, West Ham are also monitoring the 27-year old’s situation, and they may try to persuade the Egypt international to come to the London Stadium.
Ahmed Hegazi intially moved to West Bromwich Albion on loan from Al Ahly, but he made his move permanent in January, as he went on to feature in every single game of the season barring the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the third round of the Carabao Cup. In total, he made 42 appearances this season.
If Leicester City do pursue him, then he could quite possibly end up as the second West Brom player that the Foxes would be signing this summer. The interest in Jonny Evans is no secret anymore, and recent reports point towards one and only direction: He’s off to the King Power Stadium.
The Northern Ireland international has a similar release clause to Hegazi, which allows him to leave for just £3 million; however, the only problem is the £4 million fee demanded by his agent. With the talks still ongoing, the deal is expected to be completed soon.
