Living the fairytale

So much has been said and will be said about Leicester’s Premier League winning season. Nevertheless, the contributions of Robert Huth cannot be overlooked.

Huth’s injury problems of the past did not affect his performance during the 2015/16 season. The German appeared in 35 games for the Foxes, and the three games that he did not appear in were because of suspension, not injury.

With Robert Huth, the Foxes’ defence became an impenetrable force. After giving up 55 goals the season before, the Leicester backline conceded only 36 goals (joint-second with Arsenal). Further, they kept 15 clean sheets, including an incredible run wherein Leicester City did not concede a goal for five straight games.

Huth and the Leicester defence led the club to one of the greatest moments in the sport’s history. They won the Premier League title against all odds, and Robert Huth became the seventh player in Premier League history to win the title with two separate teams.
