Leicester City to begin talks with Torino for defender Lorenzo De Silvestri
Leicester City are reportedly ready to begin talks with Torino for Lorenzo De Silvestri, according to Tutto Mercato.
However, they’d have to beat Premier League rivals Newcastle United to his signature, as the Magpies have also been scouting the 30-year old.
The versatile right-back, who can also play further up the field as a wide midfielder or a wing-back, made 39 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring an astonishing seven goals and also recording four assists.
By anyone’s standards, that’s more than a decent tally, so it’s of little surprise that Leicester City are interested in the Serie A full-back – but how much sense would the move make when the Portuguese sensation Ricardo Pereira has already been signed as the first choice right-back for £22 million?
Also, if it’s about having enough cover, then Claude Puel does have an experienced Danny Simpson and a young Daniel Amartey up his sleeves already. So, unless, of course, the Leicester boss plans to sell either – or maybe both – of them, bringing another right-back won’t make any sense at all.
Yes, if he’d have been available on a free transfer, then that would be a different case altogether, but since he’s not and Torino really do want to keep hold of him, it would take some money for Leicester City to bring him to the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes can instead use that money for strengthening in the central areas of the pitch – and strenghtening well – both at the back and in the midfield.
