Leicester City will lock horns against La Liga outfit Valencia in a pre-season friendly at the King Power Stadium.

The two sides will meet on August 1 (7.45 p.m.) in the Foxes’ only home fixture in the build up to the Premier League.

City’s encounter against Valencia would be their first since 2011, when a Sven Göran Eriksson-led Leicester City lost 1-0. The result, though, won’t matter as much as who plays in the blues would.

The friendly being just ten days before the start of the season, Claude Puel would have probably sorted his arrivals and departures out. The high-profile tie will therefore give him a chance to name a full-strength XI against Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side, who’d be playing in the UEFA Champions League this season.

The game would also present Leicester City with an opportunity of testing themselves, and that can only do good to a team that has set high ambitions for itself.

Puel has already made it be known that he wants the UEFA Europa League spot this season after missing out in 2017/18, and he is heading towards the right direction already.

Having signed Ricardo Pereira for £22 million from FC Porto – a deal that many can’t quite comprehend how he managed to pull off – the Frenchman has made the perfect start to what has to be a perfect summer for the East Midlanders.

The central areas of the pitch are yet to be strengthened, and that’s where the Leicester City boss will have to show his judgement of players.
