Everton in pole position to land Leicester City target James Maddison
Everton are currently in pole position to land the highly sought after James Maddison from Norwich City, according to Sky Sports.
As Marco Silva prepares to take charge at the Goodison Park, it is understood that he wants the 21-year old, who is presently facing a race against time in trying to recover from a knee ligament injury suffered against Sheffield United last season.
Everton’s strong interest may have placed them well to get the England U-21 international, but a lot of other top clubs are after him, too – including Leicester City.
The Foxes, surprisingly, are the bookies’ pick for James Maddison at 8/13 (Sky Bet), with Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City all behind them.
Norwich City’s asking price of £25 million is favourable for Leicester to go and make the former Coventry City playmaker their own, but it’s not that simple, not in today’s market.
This is a player who scored 15 goals and assisted 11 in 49 appearances (across all competitions) for Norwich City last season, led the Championship in key passes made, had the highest number of chances created in Europe at one stage and was included in the team of the year.

It is hard to overlook him, isn’t it? It’s impossible. For a player of his age, to be playing at such a level with Norwich City requires a lot of talent and ability, and James Maddison seems to have both of those aplenty.
Leicester City are also interested in Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, another young English player who has gone from strength to strength. The asking price of £40 million might prove to be a problem, though.
