Leicester City have agreed terms with West Bromwich Albion to sign Jonny Evans for £3.5 million, according to the BBC’s Simon Stone.

Evans will become Claude Puel’s second signing of the summer after Ricardo Pereira, who has been signed from FC Porto for £22 million.

The 30-year old’s signing will be met with much amusement and satisfaction by the Leicester City faithful. The Foxes’ defence has been a major cause for worry for some time, and it finally looks it will be spent upon and improved.

Evans’ addition would obviously mean that current club captain Wes Morgan will be reduced to more of a bit-part role, as he should have been last season; but there you go, lessons learned.

The Northern Ireland international might not be the only defensive signing, with Aleksandar Dragovic expected to make his loan move permanent.

Despite rumours that he was unhappy at the King Power Stadium because of a lack of playing time, it has also been reported that Puel remains keen to add him to his squad, and he may now make that happen.

If the Leicester boss, however, decides against it, then we might see him immediately shift his attention to strengthening the midfield. James Maddison and Jack Grealish have both been touted as the perfect fits, while Thorgan Hazard and Felipe Anderson have also been linked with the club, as they prepare for the post-Riyad Mahrez era.
