Leicester City have agreed a £25 million fee for Norwich City midfielder James Maddison – that’s according to The Telegraph’s John Percy.

The 21-year old is expected to have a medical in the upcoming days before the deal goes through, making him Claude Puel’s third signing of the summer after snapping up Ricardo Pereira from FC Porto and Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion.

However, there may still be a twist or two left in this situation, with Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas reporting that both Leicester City and Southampton have agreed a fee, and that the ball is now in the player’s court. To the disappointment the fans, he has also stated that Maddison prefers Southampton.

At the moment, it’s tough to actually figure out what to believe in and what not – as is the case in every transfer window – but there should be more clarity in the next couple of days or so, seeing as there have been significant developments in quick time.

James Maddison caught the eye of the footballing world with a terrific 2017/18 campaign with Norwich City, scoring an astounding 15 goals and assisting 11 in 49 appearances.

The no.10 averaged more key passes (2.8) than anyone else in the Sky Bet Championship, and at one stage led the European charts for most chances created.

Leicester City are crying out for a true no.10 who can both score and create, and the Englishman would be the perfect fit in that respect. If, however, they manage to miss out on him, then they might have to go for the expensive Jack Grealish.
