Yohan Benalouane is unhappy at Leicester City, and is wanting a return to the Serie A.

The 31-year old has been a mere figure at the King Power Stadium since his arrival from Atalanta in 2015/16. He was sent on loan to Fiorentina for his first season, but had his spell cut short by an injury, subsequently returning without making a single appearance.

Since then, he has only made 29 appearances for the Foxes across three seasons, failing to ever nail down a spot in the side under Claudio Ranieri, Craig Shakespeare or Claude Puel.

Even now, things aren’t looking too good for the Tunisia international. Leicester City have already signed Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion and are in negotiations with Solomon Kvirkvelia.

And it looks like he can see another horrendous season ahead of him. Speaking to TuttomercatoWeb ahead of Tunisia’s opener against England, he made no secret of his desire to leave the East Midlands.

"“Serie A is my favourite league, I lived there, it would be a great pleasure to come back. Now we’ll see, the market has just opened, it’s a goal to return to the country I consider mine. At Leicester, I’m not happy,” he said."

A move away for Yohan Benalouane would be a step in the right direction for both the parties, especially Leicester City. They’ve been guilty of having too much baggage at the club, and that doesn’t always help the cause.

Now they must try and take the same approach with Islam Slimani, Ahmed Musa, Nampalys Mendy, Matty James and Leonardo Ulloa, who clearly don’t look like they’d be able to get into Claude Puel’s side.

Their departures would also allow young players like Sam Hughes, Daniel Amartey, Hamza Choudhury, Alex Pascanu and Harvey Barnes to get more playing time and keep on developing.
