Tunisia 1-2 England: Five things we learned
The Harry Kane “Hurricane” swept aside a resilient Tunisia, as England got their World Cup off to a winning start. Here’s what we learned from their 2-1 win in at the Volgograd Arena:
Harry Kane does justice to the armband
It’s not always easy to wear the captain’s armband and be your own brilliant self at the same time, but Harry Kane was able to make it look pretty simple – as simple as it is for him to score bags of goals.
Every single time England needed him, he was there; when John Stones had his header saved, he was there, slotting in a rebound; when the Three Lions had been left hapless and hopeless at the back end, he was there again, taking full advantage of a towering Harry Maguire’s glance towards the far post.
It’s the right kind of start for Harry Kane on a personal level, and more so because of how it went for him the last time he went to a major tournament. Even with the added responsibility of leading the team, he has been able to demonstrate his incommensurable calibre – and in style.
