Harry Maguire will be offered a new deal by Leicester City to fight off any interest from other Premier League clubs, according to the Leicester Mercury.

The England hero is set to become the highest paid player at the club alongside Jamie Vardy and Kasper Schmeichel, which, other than winning trophies, is all that the club can do to keep him happy.

Harry Maguire really has taken the footballing world by storm with his performances at the World Cup. There was a time when he wasn’t even guaranteed a starting place in Gareth Southgate’s side, but he took his chance well against Tunisia in the opening game, and since then, he has only got better – or so they say.

To be fair to him, he hasn’t got better. He is only doing what he has been at Leicester City for a season, and what he did for Hull City and Sheffield United in the seasons before.

Difference now is that more people are noticing his contributions, hence the strong interest from the big six.

The Foxes will now have some work to do as far as keeping the 25-year old is concerned. If England do win the World Cup, that will make it even harder for Leicester to keep him, but they’ve got to weather the storm the same way they did to keep hold of Riyad Mahrez in the last summer.

Losing Harry Maguire now would be a body blow, and one that Leicester City can’t afford at all.
