Wilfred Ndidi feels “very happy” at Leicester City despite there being numerous reports linking him with a move away from the King Power Stadium.

The Nigerian continued to build on his reputation as one of the world’s best young defensive midfielders at the FIFA World Cup. Even though Nigeria were knocked out in the group stages, the 21-year old was in a league of his own – sweating, tackling and intercepting as he always does.

His displays haven’t help Leicester as far as keeping the big boys away is concerned, with Liverpool and Arsenal both reported to be chasing him.

However, Wilfred Ndidi has now given the assurance that every single fan was in desperate need of, making it clear that he has no intention of leaving the East Midlands.

"“A transfer has never been on my mind,” he said.“I feel very good at Leicester.”"

Leicester City will hope for him to stay true to his words. Ndidi is easily the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League after N’Golo Kante – a former Fox – and following the kind of season he has had (the World Cup included), more clubs are inevitably going to come after him.

Claude Puel has already lost Riyad Mahrez, and now he has to ensure that there are no more major departures, no matter how much the money offered.

How do you replace someone like Harry Maguire or Ndidi? For the bigger clubs, it’s easy to find replacements, but for Leicester City, it is not. Players like these are prized possessions, and they need to be taken good care of. They need to be protected.
