Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is still on Chelsea’s radar, according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol.

Following reports that Real Madrid have reached an agreement with the Blues to sign Thibaut Courtois, it has now emerged that they’d be interested in either bringing Petr Cech back from Arsenal, or signing Schmeichel.

While nothing has been finalised with the European Champions as yet, there have been major developments in the last 12 hours or so, meaning that new manager Maurizio Sarri will have to make a move soon.

Considering that the Gunners may not be willing to sell Cech as they’re planning to offload David Ospina already, Leicester City would have to be prepared for when Chelsea come calling for Kasper Schmeichel.

The Denmark international was one of the best goalkeepers at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, starring against runners-up Croatia in particular despite the penalty shoot-out defeat (3-2). He denied Luka Modric from the spot late into extra-time before making a couple of saves in the shoot-out to truly announce himself on the biggest stage.

Leicester have seen heroics of a similar magnitude from Schmeichel, and would definitely not want to lose him – not at this stage anyway. He has often been the difference-maker with his robotic saves for the Foxes, so if they were to sell him this late in the transfer window, it is hard to think how will Claude Puel bring in another goalkeeper with the same calibre.
