Danny Ings has become the latest forward to be linked with Leicester City, thanks mainly to the Liverpool Echo.

The report states that Leicester are interested in bringing the 26-year old to the King Power Stadium, though Southampton, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace would all be willing to make life tough for them. Surprisingly, neither Everton nor West Ham United want Ings.

It might be because of the £20 million price tag, which Liverpool see as the amount you pay for someone who has made 25 appearances in the last three years.

Since moving to Anfield in 2015/16, Ings hasn’t really had a good time. The former Burnley striker suffered season ending injuries in consecutive seasons, and having finally recovered last year, he was no longer needed. He made 19 appearances in 2017/18, but started a mere three games.

Anyone would have taken the Ings of 2014/15, who scored 11 goals in his first Premier League season with Burnley, but after spending such a long time on the sidelines, he does represent a risk. For £20 million, Leicester could easily get a better striker.

Before that, however, it would be a wise idea to offload at least two of Ahmed Musa, Islam Slimani and Leonardo Ulloa. There have been plenty of rumours doing the rounds, but the trio is still here, posing questions for Claude Puel as always.

Maybe the boss is trying to finalise a few deals before he ships the apparent deadwood out? Maybe he doesn’t plan to sell them at all? We shall know soon.
