Southampton 1-2 Leicester City: Three things we learned
Wes Morgan can still deliver
Like Daniel Amartey, Wes Morgan’s selection raised more eyebrows than it brought smiles – which is understandable – but Claude Puel had no other option after Jonny Evans transfixed the King Power Stadium with his disastrous show against Wolverhampton Wanders.
To everyone’s surprise, Captain Morgan was able to channel his lost self from 2015/16 to remind everyone that he can still have a good time on the pitch. He made six clearances, won three tackles, four aerial duels, and had a pass accuracy of 90% (30 passes in total) at the St. Mary’s Stadium in a display that would have relieved Puel more than anyone else.
How long for would it stay that way is yet to be seen, though. It’d be wild to think that Morgan can do the same every week, mind.
