Leicester City defeated Southampton in the dying minutes of Saturday’s Premier League match. These are the funniest, most inspiring and interesting #SouLei and #LCFC Tweets.

Oh Harry Maguire… my apologies, I got distracted. What an afternoon at St. Mary’s Stadium we endured on Saturday. Scenes, indeed. Leicester City defeated Southampton 2-1 after falling behind at first. Saints Captain Ryan Bertrand scored a peach of a goal to put the hosts ahead.

Then, the ever improving Demarai Gray levelled up the game. Enter Sir Harry Maguire; the Sheffield born future England captain to score a sublime and innovative winner. Celebratory scenes at the Southern English ground from the away fans were typically and justifiably buoyant. Spurred on by Leicester City boss Claude Puel’s unfair dismissal by the Saints and Jamie Vardy’s absence.

Although, it is always wholly satisfying to win away in any league – this 92 minute strike felt extra special. We have selected the most interesting, funny and inspiring Tweets from the occasion for your viewing pleasure.

Sky Sports‘ Paul Merson, with the archetypal Merson prediction. Think outside the box, Paul – as you did as a player, exceptionally well.

Leicester Mercury‘s James Sharpe generally articulates a particularly grounded view in a biting manner, bravo. Here, James points out to detractors the strength of a team who underperform, yet win. The sign of champions? Yes. But in Leicester City’s case, realistically, not this season.

Kasper Schmeichel embracing Jamie Vardy’s humorously savage nickname for Harry Maguire. In a brotherly loving sense.

Harry Maguire was a colossus for the Foxes this weekend. He had 66 touches. Made 44 completed passes (90%). Won three aerial challenges. Helping the side with 10 clearances and, of course, scoring the winner.

A balanced and insightful post-match view from the 25-year-old.

A more polite message to Maguire. In addition to a well wish to the fans from new Foxes favourite James Maddison.

Lauding a fighting spirit.

Incidentally, Ben Chilwell could have stayed at the same standard this season which he has produced over the last couple of campaigns: mediocre at times with low strength and poor decision-making. Even then, the fans knew of his supreme talent. Thankfully, Chilwell has increased his physicality, reading of games and end product. All with a smile on his face. A future England left-back choice, for certain.

LCFC Away Days are a committed bunch with some entertaining material. Here’s to you, guys!

I make that around £95m; if his price-tag is £75m.

Loyal Leicester supporter and broadcaster Geoff Peters.

It is true that Daniel Amartey lacks composure. Yes, he makes up for it in other areas; but frankly, he is not a Premier League standard right-back.

Puel comes back to haunt the Saints.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg should be ashamed of his dive. Shocking.

Did you know, St. Mary’s was the model for the King Power Stadium?

Bertrand with a wildly inaccurate assessment. Watch the replay, mate.

Foxes of Leicester contributor Michael Abbott with the correct premonition.

Chilwell’s on fire, your whole team is terrified!

Brilliant from Matt: Leicester City and Jamie Vardy have ‘previous’ with Jonathan Moss.
