Wes Morgan is glad that he hasn’t had to see Harry Maguire in any other shirt than that of Leicester City.

The 25-year old looked set to be on his way out to Manchester United for a reported £65 million; however, Leicester were able to weather the storm once again and successfully keep hold of him.

As would be the opinion of every single Leicester fan, Wes Morgan’s, too, is that Maguire’s stay is one that means an awful lot to the club.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, he said:

"“I think it’s very important.“His first season (at Leicester City) was last season and he had a fantastic season, he got the player of the year award and he rightly deserved that as well.“I just want to see him progress, continue to improve and become the great player I know he’s going to become.“Ever since he’s come in, he’s been a revelation. I think he’s settled in so well, for me he’s just got better and better.“The more his confidence has grown, he’s stepped into the England set-up and it looks like he’s been a part of that set-up for years.“The confidence he has on the ball, the way he starts attacks, he’s got a lot of attributes for a big central defender.“He’s had a lot of attention on him over the summer, over possibly going to other teams, but I’m glad he’s stayed here.”"

Maguire hasn’t made the best possible start to the season – by his own standards – but even so, he has generally been very good at the back. That tells you more about the player than necessarily his form.

Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that he has been able to turn into one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs so quickly, having only moved to Leicester last year after being relegated with Hull City.

The pace at which he is improving, the Foxes would be very-very lucky to have him next season, too. It may not be just United that come for him, but there could be other clubs as well, who would all knock on the door with much more ferocity. Would the East Midlanders then stand in Maguire’s way is something that’ll be very interesting to see.

For now, though, Leicester can celebrate their prized possession, and ideally make the most of his presence to achieve their targets for this season.
