An unwanted assortment of international friendlies now back in the aphotic wilderness, that familiar frisson of Leicester City-related excitement/disappointment can be the cynosure once again.

Claude Puel would be hoping for his side to pick up right where they left off as they are welcomed by the Premier League’s comeback kings Bournemouth. Although Leicester went into the break with a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, the result wasn’t really a fair reflection of how well they played, especially in the second half.

A repeat of exactly that is what Leicester would want from themselves at the Vitality Stadium, as anything less would probably land them in trouble against a team that you just know will come with an intention to ‘play’.

Jamie Vardy’s return to the XI will certainly help the cause. The 31-year old is back after a three-game suspension, so you’d expect the Foxes to be more effective going forward than they have been in his absence.

Ben Chilwell wasn’t even Leicester’s first-choice left-back at the start of the season in a few fans’ opinion, but as things stand, not only is he unrivalled in his position at the King Power Stadium, he could soon be England’s no.1, too.

The 21-year old has made notable improvements on the offensive as well as the defensive side of his game, the rewards of which have also been reaped by Demarai Gray and James Maddison – both beneficiaries of Chilwell’s excellence to a good extent.

Therefore, it goes without saying that what young “Chilly” does, or what he doesn’t do, will affect the result in one way or the other against Bournemouth.

Quotes

"“We must learn and correct this. We need to improve concentration from the kick-off,” Claude Puel said of Leicester’s slow starts.“Against Manchester United and Liverpool we conceded early, but then went on to show positive things in those games, but we started so slow. It was a shame.“Bournemouth have started the season well and it will be a challenge for us.”"
