Claude Puel doesn’t fancy Marc Albrighton anymore (?)

That Marc Albrighton has only started two Premier League games this season is very disenchanting. He is one of the very best that Leicester City have ever seen – he still is – but Puel’s treatment of him is sending out a very conspicuous message: he’s not central to the plans anymore.

Hasn’t he been binned too quickly for someone who is second only to Dele Alli in terms of assists provided by an Englishman since 2015/16 (20 assists)?

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the 28-year old at all. He can attack, he can defend, he can stand in between the sticks if you want him to, and still perform better than anyone else. Everyone loves a manager who wants to promote the younger players more, but that doesn’t mean you drop someone who’s going well, and only adding to the team one way or the other.

Albrighton has no made no secret of his desire to play week in and week out, something that he fully deserves. A few more games on the bench, and we might see a scenario that Leicester are certainly the ultimate losers in.
