Leicester City tasted a second consecutive victory in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.

The game had been seen as a must-win because of the Magpies’ problems both on and off the pitch, and Leicester ensured that they didn’t make a mess of a golden opportunity.

The visitors made a strong start to the game – arguably their best this season – going close twice before DeAndre Yedlin was penalised for handball inside the box. Jamie Vardy was only too happy to convert from the spot, bagging his third in the league in five appearances.

Although there were slight scares in between, Leicester continued to control the game thereafter. Still, there were fears of a Newcastle equaliser rattling Claude Puel’s side, which were finally buried when Harry Maguire sent in a bullet header to double the lead off another gem of a delivery from James Maddison. It was the 21’s year old second assist of the season.

The win lifted Leicester to seventh in the league table – two points above tenth-placed Manchester United – and within reach of the fourth spot as well, which is currently in possession of Tottenham Hotspur. With 15 points, Spurs are tied with North London rivals Arsenal, edging them only on goal difference.

Leicester now have three tough games in succession against Everton (H), Arsenal (A) and West Ham United (H), though this isn’t the time to worry about them. For now, you can reflect on what has been a fantastic week – like these Twitterati are.:
